A cable similar to a rope, usually made of several or several groups of wires (at least two in each group), each group of wires is insulated from each other and often twisted around a central core, with a highly insulating covering all around.

Wires and cables refer to materials used for power, communications and related transmission purposes. There is no strict boundary between "wires" and "cables". Usually, products with a small number of cores, small product diameters and simple structures are called wires, those without insulation are called bare wires, and the others are called cables; those with larger conductor cross-sectional areas (greater than 6 square millimeters) are called large wires, those with smaller conductor cross-sectional areas (less than or equal to 6 square millimeters) are called small wires, and insulated wires are also called cloth wires.

Wires and cables mainly include bare wires, electromagnetic wires, insulated wires for motors and electrical appliances, power cables, communication cables and optical cables. Cables include power cables, control cables, compensation cables, shielded cables, high-temperature cables, computer cables, signal cables, coaxial cables, fire-resistant cables, marine cables, etc. They are all composed of multiple strands of wires and are used to connect circuits, electrical appliances, etc.
